Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!

It is with much excitement than I take on my first Badwater Ultramarathon on July 11th, 2011. Recognized globally as "the world's toughest foot race" this legendary event pits up to 90 of the world's toughest athletes—runners, triathletes, adventure racers, and mountaineers—against one another and the elements. Covering 135 miles traversing over 3 mountain passes this non-stop race from Death Valley to Mt. Whitney, CA has temperatures up to 130F and ground temperatures reaching close to 200 degrees, it is the most demanding and extreme running race offered anywhere on the planet.

This will be, without question, the biggest challenge I have taken on since I started participating in this crazy sport.

Tragedy has struck my family twice in the past two years. On April 16, 2009 my sister, Grace, and my brother-in-law, Jim, lost their oldest child - my dear nephew and godson, Brian Adair ddddie    v  d die di diek to a drug overdose eight days before his 21st birthday. On February 11, 2011 my other sister, Madeleine and my brother-in-law, David, lost their oldest child, Joe Lubar, another dear nephew, as the result of a skiiing accident. Joe was 21.

My heart still aches, I learned so much from Joe and Brian during their shortened lives. Brian had a twiinkle in his eye that could light up a room. He showed so much grit and determination in facing life's struggles. Joe led by example. As walk-on pitcher for Denver Univeristy baseball team, he became the ace of the staff after two years due to his incredible work ethic. I'm dedicating my run to raise money for the Brian Adair Memorial Fund (a fund set up to assist hight school students with substance abuse problems) and the Denver University Baseball Club in memory of Joe Lubar. They will carry me to the finish line. I am honored to have my sister, Grace,  on my support crew.

If you can help out with a donation it will be much appreciated by me, the Adair family, the Lubar family and the Denver University Baseball Club. Please consider a per mile pledge or just a flat dollar amount. All amounts are welcomed and appreciated.

Thank you so much in advance for your support !

Warmest personal regards,

Ed Kelly
