BenefitsOfGiving.com is an online fundraising platform that enables individuals to raise funds for a nonprofit organization of their choice. We are driven by the passion of philanthropy and the goal of connecting people with the cause they care about, thus empowering them to "Raise more than just a sweat!"
It was deep in the woods at the 2008 McNaughton Park Trail 100 Mile Run Race. On a muddy trail in the 2am frosty morning air, somewhere near mile 80, Adrian Bellitu had a flash.
"Running is a solo sport," he says. "But it occurred to me that it should be about more than endurance, than determination. I realized that I should be raising more than just a sweat, but also awareness. I wanted to do more than just run for myself, I wanted to run for others."
In August of 2008, Adrian ran the 100 mile North Face Ultra Trail-tour du Mont-Blanc - which covers seven valleys, 71 glaciers, 400 summits and three countries. Plus a more than 30,000 feet altitude gain.
Having lost both his parents to cancer, Adrian decided to run in support of Imerman Angels, One on One Cancer Support, a nonprofit organization that connects cancer fighters with cancer survivors to create an important support system. Raising more than his $5,000 goal, Adrian decided he was on to something big.
Further inspired by Jesse Itzler and his 100-Mile Man Foundation which raised $1.3 million in three months, Adrian wanted a way to harness the power of many athletes to make a big impact. A place where sport enthusiasts from all over the world could build support for the causes they most believed in. One phone call was enough to get his best friend, Robert Kurti, who had also lost his parents to cancer, involved and Benefits of Giving was born.
A forum where athletes and nonprofits can come together, Benefits of Giving gives the lone athlete the ability to work as part of team - building more awareness, more power, more donations and more resources for the cause they most believe in.
If the purpose of athleticism is to push through fatigue, fear and anxiety, Benefits of Giving offers new motivation - the chance to live one of life's most beautiful and elevated feelings: the experience of giving.
